All too often, people need a reminder that what you give is what you get; it’s important to make sure everything you do, and everything you say brings you a little closer to who you want yourself to be. I am motivated by inspiring people to live a fulfilled life. To enjoy what they do and to put their best foot forward. Work forms a critical part of one’s life journey and therefore supporting people in a work environment and keeping them engaged is a challenge I chose to take up 15 years ago at the start of my HR career. Right from the beginning, when engaging with potential candidates, I strive to understand their motivation, drive and fit. At Ona, my objective is to ensure staff feel valued, trusted and supported as they work towards Ona’s common goal. As Head of People, my responsibilities include developing and implementing people related strategies to drive an inclusive work culture of learning, accountability and collaboration — to build capacity to the teams by recruiting competent staff who are able to support the growth journey of Ona.
Edna holds a Bachelors degree from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire; and is a full member of the Institute of Human Resources Management (F-IHRM). Prior to joining Ona, Edna worked as Head of HR at a fast growing startup in Kenya and previously as HRBP at a global professional services firm.
